Summer in the South

We had an totally fabulous summer! Said in my most southern voice.

I'll start of with Braelyn graduating from her 1st preschool program at Faith Friends Academy. She had an amazing year making new friends, learning new things, and just becoming a smart little girl. She opened up and it was a great decision I am glad we made. Mrs. Mae was an amazing teacher and pushed Brae when she needed to be pushed and undoubtedly will have a lasting impression on my little girl.

The first day (August 2012) and last day (May 2013) of FFA PreK.

We decided that for the summer Brae would stay with Nuna Granddaddy Monday - Thursday and her Daddy on Fridays. It worked out perfectly and I can not thank my parents enough for letting her stay with them!
There were a few Friday mornings spent at the golf course with Daddy. My little golfer girl.

Next came cheer camp at LC. Brae had a great time and learned a few moves. She says, "Fire up LC, Fire Up A" (A is a move they learned but Brae tacks it on to the end of the cheer and is convinced that it is indeed apart of the cheer).

We took Braelyn to Sprewell Bluff to see the river. She had a blast!

Many days were filled with Braelyn playing playing playing to her little hearts content.

Brae was slow to get used to swimming and now she is jumping off by herself and even going under. Big improvement and I am so proud of her. She has always LOVED the water, but has not liked going under.

Brae loves to dress up and play make believe. Up until recently she called high heals....hee haws....Love that and ALWAYS want to remember it.

Mike and I took Brae to Dickey Farms for peach icecream. She loved it!

Brae attended two Bible Schools this summer. She loved both so much! She went to FBC in Barnesville and to Milner Baptist Church's (Kaden's church) a few weeks later.

July 4th activities were fun this year. We went to RockSprings celebration the Sunday before the 4th and ate, listened to music, played, and lastly watched fireworks.

For the actual July 4th we went to TN to Aunt Sudi's house where Brae got to meet Ambush.....the newest member of Aunt Sudi's family. Todd and Ceana were able to come too and we just had a great visit.
It was a tad on the chilly/rainy side in TN and the water was frigid. BRRRR...but once we got little priss in she did not want to get out.
After putting Brae to bed at night we would play Mexican Train with dominoes. So much fun!
Saying goodbye was hard.
The next weekend we went with PawPaw to Lake Wedowee, AL. We had a lot of fun and Brae got to ride her first jet ski. Now Mike wants one, imagine that.

Braelyn went on many adventures with Nuna and Granddaddy this summer. She participated in the summer reading program at the library and went to Callaway Gardens and Rock Ranch. I know Braelyn LOVED her time with them!

The third weekend of July I went with my friend Megan and her Mom to Helen for the weekend. It was so much fun! We got there Friday, layed out and talked by the pool (it felt weird not having to watch a little brown eyed girl) then we headed into Helen to explore since I have never been there. We ended up eating classic German food and it was so good. The next day we went tubing. It was an adventure because the water was up and it was cold. There was a lot of spining and this old lady was a bit motion sick. When we got off the river we ate Mexican and it was delish. I had a great little get-a-way!

The last five days of July and Brae's summer was spent in Destin, FL. I can hands down tell you that this was the best vacation ever as a family. I can tell you that usually Mike and I are more than ready to get back home after a couple of days of being away BUT this vacation was different. After 5 days we were wishing we had booked 7.  After the first day we decided we had more than enough room (3bd/3ba) and thought it was a grand idea to invite Nuna Granddaddy to come on down and they did!! Brae was so happy!
Highlights: We swam in the ocean and pool. Brae made friends (some her age and some girls that were 13). Brae learned to jump  in the water by herself and go under. We ate out at some amazing places (Old Bay Steamer and McGuire's Irish Pub) and ate in (Dominos...baby girl discovered she loved marinara sauce). We went school shopping and got our fair share of clothes and shoes for miss priss, and we got to go to a splash park in Destin's outside mall (Say YES to free fun). Most nights were spent swimming at the pool until way past Brae's bedtime. It was just grand I tell ya!

And on one last note...if you ever need a new vacation spot try Destin, FL. It was so nice and family oriented. Just so much better to me than PCB. Don't get me wrong PCB is fine, but Destin is just nicer. We actually stayed in Mike's bosses condo on Okaloosa Island, Fort Walton Beach...but it is only a 5 minute drive to Destin and much of our eating/shopping was done in Destin.

And that my friends was our busy, fun filled,  oh so wonderful summer!
